About This Rod

The 2026/27 Hamachi XOS GT’n’Doggie™ Ultra Long Cast (ULC) — JDM Edition is the latest version of a rod we’ve been carrying for nearly 20 years — hands down the best popping rods we have ever used. Available in 7’6" and 9’6", and now in your choice of a 3-piece build (packing down to 82cm / 32" for the 7’6" and 101cm / 40" for the 9’6") or an even more compact 5-piece ultra-travel build for true carry-on portability. Rebuilt for 2026/27 with the latest nano-carbon technology for improvements across the board — longer and more accurate casting, increased lifting power, and higher sensitivity — all backed by Hamachi’s Worldwide Lifetime Warranty.

The 7’6" is aimed primarily at boat fishing or fishing from the rocks where backcast room is limited, while the 9’6" is the dedicated land-based weapon. The ULC blows the competition away for casting distance with poppers, stick baits, metal slugs and more — the tip has the perfect action for twitching and blooping to get the best from any surface lure, and the latest nano-carbon taper transfers the pressure to the fish, not the angler. Put simply, you can put more fish-stopping pressure on with one of these than many popular high-leverage jig sticks of similar ratings.

If you chase Giant Trevally, Red Bass, Dogtooth Tuna, Bluefin or Yellowfin Tuna, or Tarpon, the XOS GT’n’Doggie™ ULC is what you need — and the 9’6" in particular is awesome for big bluefish and red drum through to queenfish and medium GT’s in the tropics. Both lengths are an amazing match for a 3500–7500 size spinning reel and cover everything from 10lb to 40lb braid — choose PE 1–2 for lighter lures and finesse presentations, or PE 2–4 for heavier surface iron and bigger fish.

★ HAMACHI WORLDWIDE LIFETIME WARRANTY — included with every rod as standard. Full terms at hamachitackle.jp/warranty

Key Features

Ultra Long Cast Design
The ULC is built specifically to maximise casting distance with poppers, stick baits, and metal slugs — outperforming shorter jig sticks by a significant margin in the distance stakes.
3-Piece & 5-Piece Travel Builds
3-piece packs to 82cm (7’6") or 101cm (9’6") in PE 1–2 or PE 2–4; the 5-piece ultra-travel build packs down even further and steps up to PE 2–5 or PE 5–13 for extreme travel and bigger game.
Perfect Popping Action
The tip is tuned for twitching and blooping poppers and working stick baits — with the backbone to apply serious sustained pressure when the fish you’ve been chasing finally takes.
2026/27 Nano-Carbon Blank
Latest nano-carbon technology delivers improved lifting power, casting distance, and sensitivity — the JDM edition with upgraded fittings and the finest available blank materials.
Boat & Land-Based
The 7’6" handles boat decks and rock platforms with limited backcast room. The 9’6" is the land-based weapon — pick your length to match your fishing style and venue.
JDM SiC Guides
JDM-specification SiC braid-friendly guides exclusive to the Japanese domestic market version — smoother, more durable, and optimised for the PE braids used in precision casting and popping.
