About the Ocean Arrow Kaiya Range

The Hamachi Ocean Arrow Kaiya — Kai (Ocean) ya (Arrow) — is a purpose-built slow-pitch jigging rod at 5’9" (1.74m) in a 2-piece format that closes to a compact 101cm. Built on a high-tensile nano carbon blank , it delivers the finesse and sensitivity of premium high-tensile carbon without the fragility of traditional high-modulus sticks.

The range covers two power classes, each available with spinning or overhead/baitcaster reel seat: PE 1–3 (15–40lb) for 40–130g jigs — the lighter, finesse end suited to inshore reef work for snapper and shallower kingfish and dogtooth presentations; and PE 2–4 (20–50lb) for 80–250g jigs — the heavier end built for deep offshore ledges, full-depth kingfish, and dogtooth tuna.

The Hamachi team trialled the Ocean Arrow range across the globe — dogtooth of Indonesia, yellowtail kings and snapper of New Zealand, and Cubera snapper of Mexico. A serious JIGGING & SOFT PLASTICS tool that doubles as one of the most capable general boat rods in its class. Platform Features — All Models
Nano Carbon Blank
All four Ocean Arrow Kaiya models share the same high-tensile nano carbon blank — the sensitivity and feel of premium high-tensile carbon with the resilience to withstand repeated deep jigging and heavy bottom fishing.
Slow-Pitch Jigging Action
Purpose-built for jigging & soft plastics techniques — the blank loads and springs on each pump-and-fall stroke, driving the irregular jig flutter that triggers reef and offshore species into striking.
5’9" 2-Piece Travel
Every model is 5’9" (1.74m) in two pieces, closing to a compact 101cm. Handles boat jigging beautifully and stows easily for travel between charters and destinations.
SiC Braid Guides
Silicon Carbide ring guides — braid-friendly and saltwater-grade. Smooth, low-friction line flow with zero heat build-up when working deep jigs under sustained load on heavy braid.
Spinning, Overhead & Trigger Grip Seats
Hamachi composite reel seat with CNC alloy trims across the spinning and cast models; the PE 2–4 Cast steps up to a trigger grip seat. All configurations lock the reel firmly under sustained jigging load.
Lifetime Warranty
All Ocean Arrow Kaiya rods sold through FishingAndBoatingDeals.com carry Hamachi’s Lifetime Warranty covering manufacturing defects in blank, guides, reel seat, and fittings. We handle all warranty claims on your behalf.

Product Information
Which Ocean Arrow Kaiya model is right for me?

Two questions narrow it down:

  • What jig weight do you need? 40–130g for inshore reef and mid-depth work → PE 1–3. 80–250g for deep offshore ledges and the heaviest jigs → PE 2–4.
  • Spinning or overhead? Prefer a fixed-spool reel and easier line management → Spin model. Prefer direct contact, feel, and depth capacity → Cast model with overhead/baitcaster reel.

If you’re unsure, the PE 1–3 Spin is the most accessible starting point — light enough for inshore work but capable of mid-depth kingfish and dogtooth jigging. Choose PE 2–4 only when you specifically need to fish deep ledges or jigs above 130g.

What is Slow-Pitch Jigging (SPJ)?

Slow-pitch jigging uses a rod’s parabolic action to generate an irregular, fluttering jig action on the fall — mimicking an injured baitfish. The rod loads on the pump and springs back, giving the jig a side-to-side flutter as it sinks. This falling action is what triggers strikes from reef and offshore species that ignore a standard speed-jig retrieve.

The Ocean Arrow Kaiya’s nano carbon blank is tuned specifically for this technique — the sensitivity to feel the jig action and the backbone to control heavy braid at depth.

Spinning vs overhead/baitcaster — which should I choose?

Both configurations share the same blank and power class. The choice comes down to technique and reel preference:

  • Spinning: Easier line management, more forgiving for anglers newer to SPJ, pairs with a 4000–6000 spinning reel.
  • Overhead / baitcaster: Direct contact and feel preferred by experienced SPJ anglers, better for deeper work where line capacity matters, pairs with a 100–500 size overhead depending on power class.
What line and leader should I use?
  • PE 1–3 models: 15–40lb braid (60lb is the sweet spot) + 40–80lb fluorocarbon or mono leader
  • PE 2–4 models: 20–50lb braid (80lb is the sweet spot) + 60–100lb fluorocarbon or mono leader
  • Connection: PR knot or FG knot for mainline-to-leader. Loop connection for jigs to allow full flutter action on the drop
